My goal with Julie Cunningham Nutrition is to create a safe space for women to learn to take control of their health. As women, we are served so many mixed messages about the way we should look and feel. I aim to empower women with the tools and answers they need to make informed decisions without feeling overwhelmed. There is nothing I love more than helping my clients achieve a more satisfying life by sharing my expertise in diabetes, breastfeeding, and family nutrition.

Why I Work in Nutrition

Years ago, I watched my grandparents suffer from complications of poorly controlled diabetes and heart disease. I saw how they buried their heads in the sand and mostly ignored their diseases, trying to pretend their health conditions didn’t exist.

I noticed that they didn’t fully understand the instructions they got from their doctors. Like most people, my grandparents had trouble understanding medical words, test results, and doctor’s instructions. They never connected the idea that good nutrition meant good health. Ultimately, they spent many years in poor health before their deaths.

I realized that I had very few positive examples of healthy eating habits as a child. I didn’t know what it meant to have a positive relationship with food.

I earned a Master of Public Health degree in nutrition and became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. I also earned several specialty certifications including Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

I found my passion helping people connect the way they feel to what they eat and helping them to realize that achieving good health doesn’t have to feel so hard. I promise to do my best to meet you wherever you are and to help you focus on becoming your healthiest self. It’s my privilege to honor your choices and your challenges while helping you work toward your goals.

My Philosophy

Good health should be accessible to everyone, whether they have a chronic health condition like diabetes or are working on improving their health to prevent chronic disease. I meet people where they are by understanding each individual’s unique challenges. I work hard to provide the right information to each client to help them make the best choices for their health.

I know how overwhelming it feels to take control of your nutrition, and that’s why I’m here to help. Many of us have emotional ties to food, and we eat for lots of different reasons outside of feeling hungry. We don’t understand why our bodies and minds feel so poorly, and we ignore the connection between what we eat and how it impacts our daily health.

Your health in your hands. It’s never too late to take control and create the future you deserve. Focus on living your fullest life, not spending all your time worrying about what you eat.

You Deserve to Be Your #1 Priority

Prioritize your health and learn how to properly care for yourself. Remember, your healthy body is what allows you to care for others.

A Healthy Mind is a Healthy Body

Untangle your feelings from food. Explore the root cause of your emotional eating habits and make the changes necessary to get to a healthier place - physically and emotionally.

There's More Life to Live

Give yourself the gift of good health. Recognize there’s so much more you can be when you feel fully alive. Focus on fulfillment, stress less about your food, and learn how to make well-informed decisions with ease.
